Downloads & Updates

Where and how can I Download or Update my game?

• For now, you may download the game from our main downloads thread, in the future we hope to have a working updater, but as of right now we're still working on that, so please be patient. Until we have an updater, updates will come in the form of another download of the server, unfortunately

Rendering System

No rendering system options are showing up, why?

• This error is caused by your ogre.cfg, and you will need an older version.

Servers

My game keeps showing "No servers to connect to :U"

• The server is currently run off of Catbird's desktop, and sometimes it's stupid, and insists there are no servers to connect to when other people are in-game.
  
  
• Try connecting on a different character, or waiting a few minutes between logging into the selection screen and actually trying to get on the game.
  
  
• There is currently no way to solve this, except for being patient.
  

Parsing Scripts

My game shows a loading bar that says "Parsing Scripts", what is it? Is it harmful?

• This was implemented by RedEye in his KITO code. While we're not entirely sure how to explain in detail what it does, it's just running through the scripts you have before it loads the game. It's not harmful.
  
  
• Just leave it be unless some freaky error pops up, in which case you should probably post in game help, because we've never had an issue with it before.
  

Help

Who or where should I ask my questions?

• If your question is a common one, you might find it right here on this list. If not, there is always the Game and Forum help sections. Please do not PM staff members unless the matter is reallysuperduperlifeordeathomfg important. They are busy, and might not reply right away.
  
  
• Visit the Game and Forum Help sections, please make sure no one has posted about this issue before you.
  

Presets

Can I get my preset in-game? Where do I submit it to?

• Presets can be added in, every two months or with any update, and you must follow certain guidelines to get your preset in-game.

Private Stuff

Can I have a private item/pet?

• Members may have their private items placed in game, but they must also be public and drop from prey. Only DT may have a private pet.

Reporting

Who or where should I send my reports to?

• Please PM your reports to a member of staff, they can be found on the side of the forum. Reports should only go to modsters and admints.
  
  
• do NOT post your reports on the forum, they will be deleted and ignored.
  

Wanna be Staff?

Can I be staff??

• If you have to ask, the answer is NO. Don't ask again or you'll be banned.
  
  
• Design Team are hand picked based on quality work we see around the forum and other sites, and MiTs are picked from applications that are posted whenever we need staff.
  
  
• On odd occasions we will sometimes request someone to join the staff at random times. If you want to be staff, behave nice and follow the rules, you never know. This doesn't mean be a minimod! That will get you blacklisted from ever being staff.
  

Your Media in-game

Can I get some of my media (textures, meshes, maps) in-game?

• Possibly. If they are well made and work in-game, you can post them in the media section, where the staff search for interesting new material and request to use it in-game.
  
  
• Do not PM staff begging to have your media in-game, it will result in an immediate and permanent 'no'.
  

Testing & You

Can I test my own textures in-game?

• NO. The files are locked for a reason, do not try to unlock them.
  
  
• This is called hacking, and hacking is bad, mmmmkaaayyy? You'll get banned.
  

Paged Geometry

My objects (rocks, trees) are black/on the ground, why?

• This is caused by your Paged Geometry.
  
  
• To fix it, turn off Paged Geometry in your game settings, you will need to close your game for the change to take place.
  

Lost Password

I forgot my password, what should I do!?

• If you have lost your password, please PM Kinsmate or Catbird and they will reset it to something generic so you may log in and change it.
  
  
• You will have to prove the account is yours by various means to ensure that you aren't trying to steal someone else's account.
  

Large Characters

Who can have large/small characters? / Can I have a large/small character?

• NOPE. large or small characters that go beyond 0.25 or 1.5 are reserved for staff, as a fun sort of reward for being so helpful.
  
  
• If you see someone who is NOT STAFF that has a large character, screenshot it and report it immediately to a modster or admint.
  

Help With My Server

Can I get help with my server?

• NOPE. We worked our asses off to make this server for you, and had to figure everything out for ourselves. You can too.
  
  
• Go bother someone on KITO if you must, but not us, we're not a support forum for your own server.
  

Advertising Other Servers

Can I advertise my server/my favorite server/etc here?

• NOPE. You came here to play Royal Skies, not advertise other servers.
  
  
• We don't mind avatars/signatures made out of screens from other servers, just don't link to them or run around yelling "come play so and so server!111!" or "I'm an admin on this server come play its awesome!!11!!" etc.
  

Locked Maps

Why are your maps locked?! I want to add my own maps to the game!! Can I?

• Official maps are locked to avoid potential hacking, file changing, or map stealing.
  
  
• We've provided a 'user maps' folder, where you can place your maps, and a blank map that is perfectly suited to place all your portals in. It even has its very own portal in Default.
